Microsoft Plans BIG Expansion In India: Acquires Huge Land Parcel Worth Rs 260 Crore - Check Details

Microsoft Corporation has recently made a significant move in its expansion strategy by acquiring 48 acres of land in Hyderabad, India, in a deal worth approximately Rs 267 crore.

Strategic Land Acquisition

According to an ET report, the acquisition was facilitated through a deal with Sai Balaji Developers, a prominent land aggregator situated in the Ranga Reddy district. Propstack, a reputable data analytics firm, provided insights into this transaction. As per a report, Microsoft's acquisition is part of its ambitious plans to bolster its data centre business.

Focus on Data Centre Expansion

Microsoft is set to establish one of the largest data centres in the region on the newly acquired property. Positioned approximately forty kilometres away from Hyderabad's main city centre.

Growing Network of Data Centre Regions

The Hyderabad data centre region marks a significant addition to Microsoft's existing network, which includes regions in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai. These regions have been operational for the past five years, serving as critical hubs for Microsoft's cloud services and data storage solutions. Additionally, Microsoft has procured two additional land parcels in Hyderabad, further solidifying its commitment to expanding its data centre footprint.

Microsoft's Presence in India

Beyond its data centre ambitions, Microsoft maintains a robust presence in India through its India Development Centre (IDC) in Hyderabad. Spanning across 54 acres, the IDC has been instrumental in driving innovation across various Microsoft products and services, including Azure, Windows, Office, and Bing. This expansion reaffirms Microsoft's dedication to leveraging India's talent pool and fostering technological advancements.

Diversification into Flexible Office Space

In addition to its focus on data infrastructure, Microsoft has been diversifying its presence in India's commercial real estate sector over the past two years. This includes increasing its footprint in flexible office spaces across the country, reflecting the company's evolving workplace strategies and commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration.
