Seven people were wounded in a shooting Saturday night at a park in western Tennessee, authorities said.
Alarmingly, there were a number of children among the victims, the Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The victims have not been publicly identified.
One person remained in critical but stable condition Sunday morning, police said in an update. Two victims remained hospitalized in stable condition, and four others had been released.
No suspects have been identified or arrested in the bloodbath, which erupted around 8:40 p.m. at a park in the city, cops said. What led up to the gunfire and any motive for the shooting remained unclear.
“Investigators are currently on scene conducting interviews with witnesses, processing the scene, and following up on leads to determine the circumstances surrounding the event,” Jackson police wrote Saturday night on Facebook.
The Tennessee park shooting was not the only overnight gun violence in a city of 70,000 residents that’s about 75 miles east of Memphis on Interstate 40. On another street, one man was fatally shot and another man was wounded around 3 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Separately, a gun attack erupted Saturday night in Colorado Springs, Colo., leaving six people shot and wounded at an intersection in the city. Investigators said an argument spiraled out of control and led to bloodshed.
